For Familiarizing Prospective New Members of
The Rotary Club of Shenendehowa
Organization
Rotary
International is an association of Rotary Clubs - worldwide. The
administration of the international organization is handled by
officers, directors,
and committees chosen from areas all over the world, in worldwide
elections. The purpose is to provide not only a framework for
clubs to build on, but also to service all clubs in consistency
and effectiveness. Rotary holds an International Convention once
a year to transact the business of the organization. Each club
in the world may send delegates in proportion to its membership.
The central offices for the international organization are in
Evanston, IL.
District
Organization - Groups of clubs in an area are divided into segments
called districts and are serviced by and elected District Governor
and a set of District Officers and committees.
Each
Rotary Club is guided by officers and directors nominated and
elected by the club members. Annual elections are held. The club
has a constitution and by-laws controlling its actions.
To
Qualify for Membership in a Club
The individual must be active in a business or profession to be
invited to join Rotary.
Prospective members for the Rotary Club of Shenendehowa will be
invited to a complimentary breakfast at a meeting prior to consideration
for membership by the Board of Directors.
Attendence
Requirements
Membership in Rotary is an honor and a privilege. There is no
privilege that does not involve a set of corresponding duties.
One of the outstanding obligations is regularity of attendance.
Only circumstances which cannot be reasonably controlled are accepted
as justification for absence. Being busy is no excuse, for all
Rotarians are busy persons.
I.
A member must maintain an average of at lest 60% in order to avoid
the possibility of having his/her membership terminated.
II. Excused absences and illnesses - Written Application should
be made to the board of directors if a member feels he/she has
good and sufficient reason to be excused.
III. Make-ups - missed meetings may be made up by attendance at
another club's meeting anytime prior to the next regularly scheduled
meeting but after the last regularly scheduled meeting. The make-up
card should be forwarded by the visiting club or member to the
club secretary, Box 41, Clifton Park, NY 12065 or presented to
the club secretary at the next regularly scheduled meeting. The
secretary must have all make-ups for a given month in order to
report the club's attendance to the District Governor before the
10th of the following month.
The
current annual dues in the Rotary Club of Shenendehowa are $130.00
payable the 1st of July for the Rotary year commencing the 1st
of July. Dues provide coverage for club administration. Funds
for service projects are raised through special events.
